Taxes are weird, in that if you have 5 people doing your taxes, you will get 5 different results. This is especially true with folks that are in business.

There is rarely a “right” answer. The amount of tax you can pay is dependent on:

  •  How well organized you are
  •  How well organized your tax preparer is
  • The personal experiences of the tax preparer

If you are in business, you are use to getting a bill for taxes, instead of a refund. The question is “How do you know that bill is right?”

You don’t. That’s why having someone that can explain how to do it effectively is so important.

Education

When we do taxes we can explain how to make changes, what you are doing wrong, and how to fix it. We also have courses (both live and online) that you can take to help educate you.

Corporate taxes

We do T2 corporate taxes for small businesses, or “one man shows” that need something simple done. However, because we know the process, we are masters at preparing the T2 for your accounting for larger businesses as well.

Personal

We are a small team and your service is personal. You are not pushed off to a tech just to get the job done. You have contact with the boss. We take every client seriously and champion your successes.

Who does our taxes?
Normally we will have one of our bookkeeping folks put together your books to prep them for taxes. Then, they go to Lynn who does the tax return herself and reviews every tax file.
How long does it take to get my taxes done?
It depends. The more involved you are, the faster it can be. We respond to two things: 1) the financial comfort of our clients in our work and 2) the speed at which the client responds to queries and request for information. The better relationship we have with our clients, the faster the response time to get things done.
Do you do financial statements for my corporate business?
We do not do financial statements other than what is in your accounting files or in your tax return. If you need official financial statements for a bank or other loaning institution, we will help you find an accountant that can help.

Can I expect a refund?

Refunds only come when clients pay into taxes. A refund isn’t free money…it is a refund of taxes that you have overpaid. So, if you overpaid throughout the year, then yes, you will get a refund.

However, there are lots of scenarios that you will NOT get a refund. We can help you understand the reasons why you would or would not receive that refund.
